I will never tire of waking up to sunrises outside my bedroom window…and I don’t think I will ever be able to overcome the urge to grab my camera and run outside to capture Mama Nature’s good morning. This morning was a symphony…starting off with a haunting violin solo, then in comes the percussion, then slowly, slowly, the rest of the orchestra blends in. Look how fast everything changes…in the space of less than one hour, the symphony is written, played and concluded…

Boo and I have been enjoying our morning walks this week, even though it has been foggy and rainy each day. Then we woke up this morning and…

I feel in my bones that today will be one of those days that makes the leaves unfurl, the grass grow, the birds dance and sing and the puppy run and leap…it is going to be one of those days…

Tomorrow begins daylight savings time. Oh, joy. I don’t normally have a problem with the “leap forward” thing, but I just realized that DST means that the photos I took at 6am today of our sunrise will be happening at 5am tomorrow. Hmmm…wonder how that is going to play out…

At any rate, Mama Nature gave me a good one this morning…enjoy!

My due date with our first child, my daughter, was February 29.  Of course, she decided that she liked it in there where it was dark and familiar and she could think, so she wasn’t really born until March 17. But I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Leap Days. Today’s got off to a really lovely start…

Thank you, Katy, for giving me an extra reason to love Leap Days…

Yesterday’s sunrise came in a blaze of oranges and purples…

This morning was much more pastel…no less glorious, but certainly not a blaze…

I am so lucky to see what I see…

Blazing skies…

What a way to start my day…had to share with those of you not so fortunate to see this beautiful sky…happy winter morn…

So much for complaining about the lack of winter weather…I was talking more along the lines of snow…lots and lots of snow, on occasion…I really hadn’t wanted (or asked for) single digit temperatures (1 degree F from 6:30am…now, at 8:30am, it is a whopping 5 degrees). It is so cold, I am wearing socks…that says something! I am going to be pinning (on Pinterest) ideas for window treatments which help insulate and filter light, but are also unobtrusive. Any blogs other than Young House Love that I should check out for inspiration?

That said, you should see what I see out my back door…there is no way to successfully convey the magic…it reminds me of looking down from an airplane window at the wisps of clouds between you and the earth below…only this time, I am looking out at wisps of mist wafting off the ocean…just plain awesome…

Glorious shades of gray…

January 3, 2012

When the sun finally started to rise this morning, I made my familiar trek out to the deck to photograph the day.  This morning, 26 degrees F! I was, as usual, barefoot, but I did put on a jacket.

But then, I just couldn’t stop watching…the sky just started glowing and changing…here’s a bit of what I saw in the space of just a few minutes…

So many shades of gray…and not one of them alike!
