Tid bits…

I weeded on and off for three days.  While it looks much better, it only served to reinforce how much work it is to have pristine gardens.  Thank goodness I am not a pristine garden kinda person.  But I DO love to sit on the ground and weed weed weed.

I hate ticks.  We are in full tick season already and I am finding them everywhere…even crawling on a pair of shorts in a bin at BJ’s Wholesale last weekend.  Gross.  I’m trying to figure out how to get rid of them, short of euthanizing our beloved cats.

Spring in New England…what can I say except Ahhhhhhhhhh…

Did you read the article on a study that says people with ADD lose 3 weeks of work a year?  I am trying to take my time to process this and not fly off on a tangent.  I guess I waste enough time as it is.

Because the weather has been so “back and forth”, I haven’t been able to complete my semi-annual clothes swap.  I have both my spring/summer/fall clothes out AND my winter clothes…sandals competing with boots.  What a mess!  I think this coming weekend I will have to bite the bullet and trust that mama nature has no more chilly surprises for me.

Another first…

Yawnnnnnn…having trouble getting my mental motor up and running this Monday morning.  I feel as if I haven’t had a chance to dump all the details out of my brain and get them under control in a while and that has me very out-of-focus.  I need to take a breath.  Maybe tonight?  We’ll see.

I did something this last weekend that I have never done before.  I went to a salon and got sprayed with phony tan.  What a kick!<G>  Me, this very fair (well, let’s be honest, this very pasty white) blonde, stepped into the booth starkers (except for the attractive shower cap covering my head hair), faced the spigots and pushed the go button.  Oops…I forgot to take my glasses off after reading the instructions on the wall…here’s the naked blonde quickly palming the glasses while trying to remember to hold my breath, turn my hands in the correct position AND close my eyes!  Sigh…I couldn’t even do that right.  The results were mixed.  I discovered where my “problem” spots are, as evidenced by a couple of white stripes.  I got about the same results as those times when I have used sunless tanners myself, but the spray gets everything uniformly and quickly.  It is just a matter of remembering to follow all the rules!  I think I will give it another try and next time, I’ll remember to take my glasses off.

All right, I’m a sucker…

Ever since my daughter got married, I am a sucker for wedding photos. As I flip through someone’s wedding photos, I am transported back to the blissful feelings surrounding my daughter’s wedding. This last weekend, it was Jenna Bush’s wedding photos that started it for me. However one feels about the current President, it was a beautiful wedding (at least from the photos they shared) and they all looked so happy and she picked the PERFECT location for her wedding. Of course, the first thing I did after looking at Jenna’s photos was go back and revisit my daughter’s wedding. Ahhhhhh……

Cats

I have always been a cat person. I grew up with dogs and cats and I tolerate dogs. But I AM a cat lover. Every cat I have ever owned (although, admit it, who really ever owns a cat?) has come wired with certain personality traits. My very best cat ever was Missy, a blue point siamese/himalayan mix that DH gave me for my 22nd birthday. She was beautiful and loving and adventurous. She lived almost 19 years. But cats, in general, have a place in my heart. Right now, I have my son’s unique calico stretched out to my left and our Maine coon cat (from Seattle, go figure) curled into a big furry heap at the bottom of the bed. Life is good.Aziza

Why blog?

May 5, 2008 starstruk 3 comments

A friend of mine was really surprised when I told her that I blog. To her, blogging is a very self-centered thing; she can’t understand why anyone would think that what he or she said would be interesting or meaningful to anyone else. I actually agree with that, in a way. BUT, and there is always a but, I enjoy reading other people’s blogs. It makes me think and I like that. And now that I do blog, I enjoy actually writing down some of the random thoughts that flit through my pea-brain like a slide show every minute of every day.
