Winter doldrums

January 26, 2008 starstruk 2 comments

We are heading into my least favorite season.  No football, no baseball.  There is golf, but that isn’t anything I really look forward to, it just is.  I do love watching and rooting for Tiger, though.  Oh, well, only a few more months until Spring Training, then it all starts up again.

Anticipation

January 25, 2008 starstruk 4 comments

I love weekends…days off…ahhhhhhhh…

Even better is the anticipation of weekend.  As Fridays creep by, I get happier and happier.  When it is quiet at work, as it is right now, the Boss usually lets me leave a half hour or so early.  It is like found time…stolen time.  I have so much I SHOULD do this weekend, including breaking down all the cardboard boxes that have accrued in our basement and taking them to the dump for recycling and doing taxes and vacuuming the house.  We’ll see how much gets done.  Manicure is definitely on the agenda.  Rehearsal on Sunday.  And a nap or two.  Ahhhhhhhh….I love weekends.

Color quiz from Are We There Yet

you are slateblue
#6A5ACD

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You’re good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.
Your saturation level is medium – You’re not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it’s required of you. You probably don’t think the world can change for you and don’t want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life is brighter than most people’s. You like the idea of influencing things for the better and find hope in situations where others might give up. You’re not exactly a bouncy sunshine but things in your world generally look up.

Latecomer

January 23, 2008 starstruk Leave a comment

I am a latecomer to the world of MP3 players.  My family have all had Ipods for a gazillion years, I have resisted.  Finally, I caved and bought myself a cow eyes brown 30GB Zune.  It acts like a digital picture frame, I listen to podcasts and someday I will listen to music.  My fondest hope was to be able to listen to audiobooks on it, but that was dashed when I discovered that my Zune does not support any major audiobook formats.  That, however, is the only down side, at this point.  I have a good speaker dock that charges while I listen and podcasts are easy to listen to at work.  So far, so good.

Go, Pats!

January 19, 2008 starstruk 2 comments

I’m writing my Go, Pats post today, because I won’t have time to tomorrow. I’ve got rehearsal scheduled for tomorrow and won’t be home until after the game starts. As for the “other” game, I’m rooting for the Packers.  I’m a Favre fan, plus my husband has been working in Wisconsin on and off for the last few months, plus I am totally turned off by the Mannings for interfering when Eli was supposed to go to San Diego but San Diego wasn’t good enough for their little boy/little brother – I’m not opinionated much, am I?  Ugh. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in ANY football stadium at this time of year, but Green Bay?????????

One more thing for us post-menopausal, fat, sweaty, grumpy, sleepless women to be freaked out about.

Community theater

January 16, 2008 starstruk 1 comment

If you have read my “About Me” page, you will note that I am active in community theater. Active is the mild way of putting it, I am passionate about community theater. My career began back in junior high, when a teacher recommended me to a director who needed to cast a young girl. From there I went on to a life on the stage. It wasn’t until I landed in my current home town 13 years ago that I discovered directing. That is my new passion. I get to play all the parts while I show my casts what I visualize WITHOUT LEARNING ANY LINES! Heaven!

Day after Snow Day

January 15, 2008 starstruk 6 comments

I ended up staying home yesterday, watching the gorgeous snow fall. I got the front steps shoveled down to the driveway (my bit of exercise for the day) and got TONS of theater business accomplished. My plow guy finally showed up late in the afternoon, so I am free and clear to head for work this morning. Black ice is the enemy this morning.

SNOW!

January 14, 2008 starstruk Leave a comment

I don’t really know how to do this, although I read my friends’ blogs faithfully. I’m snuggled into my bed, 6:30am, a “classic nor’easter” dropping inches of snow outside, trying to decide whether I’ll go to work today. Just when I decide to stay home, my conscience pricks about that one little bit of work that should be taken care of today. Round and round I go.

LOVE the sound of the snow plows scraping the street outside. LOVE snow days!

OK, so many of my friends are doing this, I decided it was time to join in. I will write more later, but I just couldn’t let the “canned” blog entry stay.
